She existed only at night, and he during the day. They’d lived forever and the source of it was a curse neither remembered.

But she did remember his hands upon her. That sensation of his desperate fingers twisting her into a mess of depraved groans. In the moment before the sun rose, she felt the echo of his presence.

Until she evaporated into mist.

She reemerged to a world of stars and moonlight. On the ground at her feet was a letter.

My love, it read.

If I could dream, I swear I would see you there.

Wait for me.
